Blackburn Brothers’ 2023 album SoulFunkn’BLUES has been recognized by leading blues and music organizations in Canada and the United States.
In Canada, SoulFunkn’BLUES earned a 2024 JUNO Award nomination for Blues Album of the Year and received a record-setting nine nominations at the 2024 Maple Blues Awards, including Entertainer of the Year, Electric Act of the Year, Recording of the Year, Producer of the Year, Drummer of the Year, Piano/Keyboard Player of the Year, Guitarist of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year.
In the United States, the album won the 2024 Blues Blast Music Award for Soul Blues Album of the Year and received three 2024 Blues Music Awards nominations, making Blackburn Brothers the first Canadian band to receive three nominations from the Blues Music Awards.
These honours reflect Blackburn Brothers’ continued contribution to Canadian blues and the family history and groove that drive their sound.
